You know its spring when the biggest attraction in Washington, DC is the cherry blossom trees around the Tidal Basin. I get excited too! I enjoy waking up at 4:30 am and making my annual pilgrimage to the mecca of blossoms, but sometimes I don’t always make it there on time. Immediately after I parked my vehicle near the Jefferson Memorial, I realized even in the dark that I might be disappointed. The problem I have is that I have been spoiled. I’ve been there where every tree was filled with pink and white blooms leaving no available space on the limbs—gorgeous. This year, I was a little disappointed. I saw many blossoms on the ground than on the trees. I missed peak bloom AGAIN this year with the help of a steady downpour of rain the day before. After the sunrise, I took a few shots and started making my way back to the vehicle. I managed to find some blooms on a few limbs here and there. The good news is I’ll be back in 365 days.
